A server is impressive... Until the power disappears, the cooling fails, the network cable is patched incorrectly or somebody discovers that the “redundant” power supply was connected to exactly the same upstream source.

Professional data center operations depend on an entire ecosystem: IT load, electricity, cooling, networks, security, monitoring, people and processes. A fault in one part can quickly affect several others, which is why troubleshooting should begin with impact and facts—not simply with the component standing closest to you.
Electricity must travel reliably from the grid through UPS systems, distribution and rack PDUs to the server. Cooling must move heat away efficiently. Networks must remain traceable, because one incorrectly patched fibre can create consequences remarkably disproportionate to the size of the cable.
Then there is redundancy. Two cables do not automatically mean resilience. Genuine redundancy requires separate paths, sufficient capacity and tested, documented failover. Otherwise, you may simply have created two attractive routes to the same problem.
Safety is equally fundamental. ESD protection, LOTO, PPE, permits and two-person verification exist because enthusiasm is not an approved risk-control procedure. The lesson is simple: stable data center operations are built in layers. Understand the whole system. Follow the paths of power, heat and data. Verify redundancy. Understand the risk before starting. Because the best data center technician is not the person who reacts fastest. It is often the person who understands what will happen before touching anything.
